USA Cares Really Cares

USA Cares is a non-profit charity founded in 2003, existing "to help bear the burdens of service by providing military families with financial and advocacy support in their time of need." In seven years, USA Cares has helped over 19,000 service member families and delivered over $6 million in support.

Media persona Dennis Miller is the organization's national spokesman. In addition, on July 4, 2006, during at speech at Fort Bragg, President George W. Bush spoke of USA Cares' honorable work.

1. Grants vs. loans; USA Cares provides grants to solve problems not loans to prolong them.

2. Screening of applicants; USA Cares carefully screens each applicant. USA Cares' staff works directly with service providers including utility, mortgage companies, and loan modification companies, etc.) to confirm the need.

3. Leveraging other assistance; USA Cares mobilizes other organizations to join in providing assistance thus maximizing the impact of every donation.

4. Low overhead/high-efficiency; Typically more than 80% of all contributions received from donations and grants go to support service members and their families.
